The Caprese salad is an Italian recipe, first from Capri, the island that gives it its name. They say it originated as a tribute to the flag of Italy and that is why parts of its three colors need: white (mozzarella cheese), red (tomato) and green (basil).
It is the summer salad par excellence and its simplicity makes it an ideal dish when we have to improvise a meal or dinner.

How to prepare a Caprese salad step by step
Drain the mozzarella cheese ball, cut into slices between 0.5 and 1 cm and dry with paper towels. Cut tomatoes of the same thickness. Store other slices of cheese and tomato on the plate till the cap is covered.
Put to a point of salt, especially the tomato. Sprinkle with a thread of extra virgin olive oil and place the basil leaves clean and dry.
Serve immediately so that the basil does not go limp and the tomato does not dry out.

- Cut the tomato and cheese into slices of the same thickness, between half and one centimeter, to your liking.
